John “Moonivation” Moon, born and raised in WASHINGTON DC, was a child far more ambitious than many of his peers. Inspired by the likes Berry Gordy, Quincy Jones, Timbaland and Dr. Dre, at the age of 7 he remembers vividly trying to recreate music beats he heard on the radio on his Casio keyboard. John hails from a long line of musicians. He was introduced to music at a young age growing up in church, also influenced by his cousin, the late GOGO Icon Reggie “POLO” Burwell of the Total Control Band, an infamous DC based band. At the age of 9, he began playing drums in local bands & churches and continues to play today. Moon credits Gary L. Drew, the founder of Hands on The Future, a nonprofit geared towards exposing youth to music, for introducing him to producing on a professional level. When Moon was 13, he joined the program and gained access to industry standard equipment. Moon attended Duke Ellington School of Arts and was enrolled in the technical theater program for 2 years until the program lost its director. The short period that he was enrolled at Duke Ellington afforded him many opportunities to network and perfect his craft. Moon was in contact with and recognized by industry giants such as Diddy and Stevie Wonder. Moon's extensive production/engineering resume includes artists such as : Madonna, Maxwell, Gucci Mane, DC’s own Shy Glizzy and a host of other talented homegrown DMV artists. Moon has not only established his niche as a producer, but also as a live/studio audio engineer. Moon's goal is to touch all avenues of music. When asked about his legacy he says "I want to make a large positive impact on the world. I want to be universal and inspire others." Moon is currently the CEO of a thriving production/entertainment company Moonivation Entertainment LLC based in Washington, DC.
